With global warming rising up to an unprecedented level, saving our environment for the future generations and other living beings that we share the planet with has become an imperative. It is therefore important to inculcate principles of healthy and sustainable living right from an early age. To do this, the school has included a number of in-class and outdoor activities which focus on maintaining cleanliness, reducing waste, increasing our green footprint and also assimilating with nature. Here are some of the initiatives that the school has introduced in order to do our bit for the environment.

Beach Cleaning

Keeping our natural resources free of pollutants and instilling civic sense in children. Fostering understanding of the impact of pollutants on marine life.

Recycling Waste

Reduction of carbon footprint by using pre-owned or recycled material for a variety of purposes. To nurture the value of environmental protection and conservation among children, an activity ‘Best out of waste’ was conducted. This activity helped to enhance not only creativity and presentation skills of the students but also helped them to realize the importance of recycling and reusing waste material available to them

Saving Water

As Mumbaikars we are aware of the water shortage that we face every year, the more we save, the more water there will be for equal distribution. An activity done with Std V students focusing on saving trees, saving water and saving the earth.

Nature Treks

Spending time in nature is a clean, uplifting and inspiring experience – both mentally and physically. It helps children understand the importance of environmental balance. With this thought, MCET School organized a trek for the students of Std. VI and VII to Lohagad at Lonavala from 11/08/2023 to 13/08/2023

Learning with Nature

Learning about nature amidst nature gives children a deeper insight into their botany lessons. Exploring the flora and fauna first-hand is a great way to make the theory stick and also understand the importance of greenery in our daily wellbeing.

Conservation

As a part of our active learning initiatives, we recently organized an English Literature Project for Std. IX based on a poem “On Killing a Tree”, where students were asked to make charts on the implications of the loss of greenery. The objective was to heighten awareness around environmental sustainability.
